Jalan Uluwatu 45, Jimbaran 80361, Indonesia

Home to unarguably our best sunset in Bali, the luxurious InterContinental Bali, nestled on the stunning Jimbaran Bay, remains a firm favourite with my family. This kid-friendly Bali hotel boasts a kids’ club that resembles a mini-resort and a turtle release programme like no other will have you believing that your little ones were on a separate holiday all together. All the while, you snap up mud crabs at the fish market, cycle your way down to seek blessings at the Pura Tegal Wangi Temple or simply have those kinks ironed out at open-air spa pavilions along the beach. Bliss doesn’t begin to describe it!

Family Favourites:
    1. Spa offers fun treatments for kids using child-friendly products.
    2. Mini soccer field for your little Beckhams.
    3. The kids were spoilt for choice here, with 4 kids’ pools (Planet Trekker’s pool, fish fountain pool, splash pool, turtle pool) too choose from. Swimming lessons for kids are also available.
    4. Jimbaran Garden restaurant had a kids’ corner during breakfast that took the kids off a hands for a bit.
    5. Children’s bike tour and the signature Colours of Jimbaran bike tour designed especially for children.
    6. ‘Planet Trekkers’ kids’ club is open a whopping 13 hours (9 am to 10 pm) a day, which gave us a huge window to truly unwind, while the kids indulged in a different kind of unwinding down at Planet Trekkers.

For the youngest lot, there are kids’ movies, board games, art and craft station, playground with swings and slides, a mini basketball court and a kids’ pool. The older ones revel in the internet cave (it actually looks like a cave) with computers, Wii and Play Station consoles, a reading corner and an air hockey table.

There is an unending list of kid-friendly activities to choose from that include fun yoga, traditional Balinese games, kite making and flying, treasure hunts, fishing, Balinese flower arrangement and shadow puppet making, to name a few. Your young ‘ins are also taught to think green right and are actively involved in feeding fish and ducks, resort nursery tours and recycled art classes.

They have roped in a local turtle conservation and education centre to educate the children about the endangered green sea turtle that inhabits Indonesian seas. These classes are further enhanced by the resort’s own turtle release programme on Jimbaran Beach. Watch your children beam with pride as they so cautiously carry the newly hatched baby turtles to the shoreline in water-filled coconut shells and release them into the sea. They receive a signed certificate, a photograph posing with the turtle and a souvenir for their efforts.

9. 50% discount on laundry rates for clothes of children under six years.

10. InterConcept shop at lobby level well stocked for those diaper and kid’s sunscreen emergencies.
