Jalan Teluk Berembang Laguna Bintan, Lagoi 29155 Bintan Resorts, Indonesia

Let’s get real – Singapore is an island country and you can’t find half a decent beach here even if you tried. Believe me, I’ve been looking for 8 years now! So Bintan is where I head with my family whenever I’m craving that beach fix. 45 minutes by ferry and poof – you’re there! One of the nicest family-friendly resorts on the island, Angsana is also home to perhaps the nicest beach in all of Bintan (or at least I think so). That coupled with a kids’ club and a toddler pool, the weekend almost always just slips away…

Essentials:
  1. Baby cot
  2. Child toiletries
  3. High chair
  4. Child menu
  5. Babysitting services ($14/hr; $19hr from 5 pm-10 pm)
  6. Interconnecting rooms

Family Favourites:
      1. I always tend to forget how fantastic the Angsana beach is till I actually get there. Spanking clean waters, with a sandy bed shallow enough for my toddler to walk into the water for as long as he wants.
      2. Designated pool for children.
      3. Family-friendly Saturday nights, with a  live bar-be-que, live music and bonfire, all on the beach, are such a treat.
      4. The family-friendly rooftop lounge features a foosball table, pool table, table tennis, carom board, darts and board games for children and parents to have some fun.
      5. My little adrenaline junkies loved sitting on the ATV bike with their dad and zipping through the jungle.
      6. The marine centre can also organize fishing on traditional sampans for the family. Later, have the chefs at the resort whip up a meal with your catch of the day!
      7. Set on a jungle trail with experts from the resort and watch the kids jump with glee as they get up close and personal with garden snakes, squirrels, monitor lizards and monkeys.
      8. The resort will happily organize a cruise into Bintan’s mangrove forests to sight both animals as well the indigenous folks that inhabit these forests. The nightly firefly tour, with millions of fireflies, had my kids spellbound and is an absolute miss-me-not!
      9. The Kids’ Club at the resort is stocked with toys, games, books, art and craft materiel to keep the resort’s youngest guests busy for hours. Activities like Riau dancing, cap and t-shirt painting, puppet show, baking, sand painting, castle building and treasure hunts are also organized by the great staff here.
      10. Kids loved the 45-minute ferry ride from Singapore, which really is the quickest and easiest way to get to Bintan Island.
      11. Child DVDs for rental.

Parent’s Perks:
      1. Once the little ones are safely tucked in bed, slip out to enjoy destination dining. Dine on a bed on the beach, a candle-lit table on the rocks, the signature 8th hole of a golf course or in an actual fishing boat parked right on the sand – with a personal chef and server, of course. Better yet, enjoy a massage in a private cabana on the beach before savoring a sumptuous meal. Bliss!
      2. Dad’s can tee off at the stunning 18-hole golf course designed by Greg Norman on the same premises as the resort.
      3. A cheesy but so much fun water aerobics call at the pool you should not miss!
      4. Spa that uses locally derived ingredients like brown sugar milk and bengkoang coffee.

The Resort:
        • Beachfront resort with private beach

        • 10 minutes from ferry terminal
        • 113 rooms & suites

Mandy’s Tip: The neighbouring Banyan Tree Resort is only a buggy ride away, giving guests at Angsana access to the iconic Banyan Tree Spa as well as its many popular restaurants. Literally, 2 for 1! Plus, we were’t big fans of the food at the Angsana and landed up going to the Banyan Tree for most of our meals, so it really worked out quite well.
